Cha Ching!

I am a winner!!  It is as if I won the Lottery.  I am so excited.

Bren, Pieces From Me, did a Fall Give Away.  I have admired her work via blog and was thrilled to see that she was giving away one of her pieces.  I immediately decided to "throw my name in the hat" for her quilted table topper.  And I won!!  Thanks Bren!!

Laundry Anyone?

IMG_0596-1

For those of you who know me, know that I hate don't like to do laundry.  There are a couple of reasons for that...

a.  I am a girl that likes to "get er' dun" and check it off my list. (yes, I am a "list" girl too.  So much so, that I will write tasks down that I have already done just so I can check them off.  Anyone else do that?)  Laundry is a job that never gets Done - unless everyone is naked and stays naked!

b. No matter how you slice it, it is a BIG job - from carrying the piles to laundry room, sorting colors, washing, drying, folding, and delivering back to rooms.  I just got tired.

c. It never goes away.

I know, I know, you are all saying, "Quit your complaining!  Be thankful you are clothed, and you have a washer, and you have a dryer and you have helpers that do a lot of it."  And believe me for those things - - I AM very thankful!  I just needed to vent.

I guess we will keep doing it.  If we don't, ya'll might see a bunch of naked hillbillies running around on the mountain.  Yikes!!

Done!

Changes are complete!  Thanks for your patience.  There is so much out there to choose from and I could not make a decision.

Hope you enjoy the new look :0)

4 Very Short Months

It was June 11th, when we got our last snowfall.  Here it is October 11th and check this out...

We do have a Youth Group here for the weekend.  They played paintball (outside) this morning.  This is the Lodge.

Guy Time...

And guns!

It doesn't get any better than that.

Mr. O and his wife camped at Big Canyon a few weekends ago.  He invited Brian and the boys to target practice with him.  He let the boys shoot his short little gun.  I think it is called a pistol.  ( A .22 pistol to be exact)   Lots of Clay pigeons "died" that day.

Happy Trails

So, a dear friend, I won't mention any names (LS), chewed me out   talked to me about my lack of posting as of late.  I am so sorry.  It's not that there hasn't been anything going on.  That is just the problem, there has been lots going on and no time to inform you, the public, about it.  Deepest apologies.

Here is a picture I took of Abbi riding Risky.

IMG_0580

You may want to read that last sentence again.

Yes, I took the picture which means the horse head in front of me is the one I am riding.  Oh, we had a blast.  I jumped on Chief  with the attitude and confidence I had as a 15 year old.  No problem!  Watch me ride with the wind!

IMG_0577

If you don't know anything about how Abbi likes to ride, let's just say, she loves speed.  If her eyes are not watering, she is not going fast enough.  So, keep in mind, I have only ridden Chief 2 other times and they were leisure rides.  I don't really know how this horse rides or what he might be thinking at any given point.  Having said that, you now know why when I accepted Abbi's challenge to a race (at full speed), Chief had a different trail in mind.  Actually, it was not a trail at all just a steep hillside straight down with shrubs, rocks and brush everywhere.  All to say, I learned a few things about Chief.  He is fast, can turn on a dime, and will do whatever he wants whenever he wants (if his rider is not paying attention).  I survived and I was humbled.  Abbi got another good chuckle at my horse-riding mishap.  I guess I am not 15 anymore.

Oh, who cares.  We had a blast!  And by the way, Chief is an awesome horse.  (I am just not the pro rider that I use to be.)

FYI- If you see me walking funny, it because I AM SADDLESORE!!!  There I said it.  Laugh all you want.

Women Women Everywhere!!!

WOW!!!  And double Wow!

The women of our church had their 4th annual "Women's Weekend Together".  And it was here at Big Canyon!  I have been blessed.  New friendships.  Deeper friendships with those I already knew.  Tears.  Laughter.  Challenged.  Encouraged.

Now, you are probably wondering how it was possible for me to take part since I am the "camp cook".  Well, let's just say, I have a great husband!!  And the schedule was such that it was very do-able (thanks Brenda!).  I did the cooking, the children helped with the setting up and serving, and Brian did the clean up.  Great team effort!  And that's what I call Family Life - - serving together.

Christina G. (from Salt Lake) was our guest speaker.  So precious and what a heart for the Lord!  Her journey with the Lord would "floor you".  She is so passionate about Jesus and such an encouragement to those around her.  Have you ever heard Beth Moore speak or Kay Arthur?  I would say, Christina is as cute in her way of speaking as Beth Moore and as well versed as Kay Arthur.  What a sweet woman!

On Top of the World

IMG_0085-1

Tis the season for the much anticipated "Bugling".  For those of you who don't know what that means - - it is the time of year for the Bull Elk to find their Cow Elk (ie: female elk, this seasons mate, girlfriends, mother of their offspring - I think you get the idea ) with a bugle sounding call.  This was one of our family night activities.  (The other one was Freeze Tag.)  However, it was only 1/2 family night because the little ones could not have done the hike.  (Caleb was selfless enough to stay home with the three little girls)  The rest of us put on our hiking shoes, jackets and grabbed the binoculars.  We hiked up to the ridge-line of Big Canyon (not the camp, but the actual canyon that our camp is named after) and sat in the brush.  We saw a few cow elk on the other mountain side and we heard a few bugles.

Abbi trying to show me where the elk were.  I think I may be losing my perfect eyesight.  Argh!...Oh, the darn things that come with age (and wisdom, of course).

FYI: I did finally see them through the binoculars.

Aaa Aaaa Aaa!  Brian took this picture of me.  I thought it was neat looking.  It is, as if, I were angelic or something.

OK!  Do you see this next picture?  Do you see what is wrong?  Yes, I have two different shoes on.  Are you kidding me?!!!  How old am I anyway!?!  I did not even notice until Brian said, "So what is going on with your shoes?" That comment drew everyone's attention to my planned footwear and everyone got a good laugh at my expense.  Thanks, Honey!!!

Look closely.  Do you see the black marble looking things.  Yes, it is elk scat and yes I sat right in it.  Again, I ask, "How old am I?"

The views from where we sat.  For those of you who know the area, the lake is Rockport.
