Whew!

Have you ever seen a chicken when its head gets cut off? Well, that is the way I have felt (and probably looked) the last few weeks. We have been busy busy busy! We are having a blast with all of the Big Canyon campers and also enjoying all the summer fun activities around here as a family.

I am the biggest "slogger" (my spell check says that that is not a word). But I think it is! It is the word blogger meshed with the word - SLACKER!  And that is exactly what I have been as of late.

Stay tuned!

Father/Son Retreat

May 22-25

If you haven't checked out the Big Canyon blog lately ~ you should. But just in case, here is the latest post. (I know, I am way behind)  This was the first Father/Son retreat put on by Big Canyon. It was a HIT!  About 50 fathers and sons were at Big Canyon on Memorial Day Weekend.

I Love America!

I have declared July 4th as my favorite holiday.

No fuss. No prep. Just good ole' family hang out fun.

We go to a small neighboring town to spend the day.  We start the day off with a 5k (3.1 miles). The five oldest children and Brian ran it this year.  Me and the 3 little girls were the cheerleaders (and photographer)!

Weston, Maggie, Elizabeth and Abbi before the race at 6:45 am.

The start line!

Brian (in green) was the first of our clan to come around the corner at the first mile marker. He was about 10th at this point.

Then came Mr S.(orange) and Caleb (red)

Then it was time for the Big Breakfast Feed!!  Huge pancakes, sausage, hash browns, eggs, fruit bowl and juice.  WOW and YUM!

After breakfast, we lay our big bellies on the grass and watch the live local entertainment...

There was clogging, dancing, little girls singing, musicians etc.

After the entertainment there were 10 cent Ice Cream Cones. A family favorite.

We ate our 10 cent treats and went home so that everyone (including adults) could take naps. We ate dinner and had dad's Homemade Butterfinger Ice Cream. Delish!!

So... once our naps were taken and our tummies were full (again) we headed back for a concert by Charley Jenkins. He was alot of fun and we enjoyed his music. Small piece of trivia: Charley grew up in this area. His songs are country. He made to the top 12 of Nashville Now.

Brian and I even went up front with some other couples and did some Swing Dancing.

Then there were the fireworks.  Ohhh! Awww!  Wow!

I am thankful for all of the men and women that have fought for our freedom and our country.

We are so blessed! God is soooo good!!
